Shut up.
As most of you know, the Kony 2012 campaign has being spread all over the internet and worldwide. This makes me extremely pleased to see so many people concern over social issues in the world. At the same time, certain reactions prompted by certain people have angered me.
It is a valid point that people shouldn’t be surprised that there are issues like this happening ALL over the world, every single year, every single day. This should not be news. Though, the people that are upset about this, should not rage their opinions because certain people did not have knowledge about these kinds of issues; you cannot blame someone for something they have no knowledge over.
With that said, I think all you people who are upset about this Kony 2012 campaign should shut the hell up. I completely and respectfully understand your standpoint, but for you to explicitly target those who are trying to spread the word is beyond annoying and malicious.
This is what the internet is for. The power of the internet, as we have seen with SOPA/ACTA, can be harness and put to good use. The power of the internet can help spread the word, can educate, can inform, can inspire, and can change our life style. THIS IS WHAT THE INTERNET IS FOR. What is so wrong about spreading the word of helping others? Why must you be so cruel towards this campaign.
Also, isn’t it ironic how this is similar to the SOPA situation a few months ago? Was it not social networking sites that helped put a stopped to the rubbish act? Oh, you had no problem blacking out your pages, or posting links on your Facebook, but when it comes down to this campaign, you bitch about it like this is a joke. You care about the internet, but not enough to tolerate a mass campaigning to stop this cruel and inhumane terror in Africa.
You ask how this is helping? For one, it’s reminding people the power of the social networking sites, it’s reminding us that we can come together, regardless of our distance.
Shut up. If you are annoyed with these widespread of the Kony 2012 campaign, either simply ignore it, hide it from your wall, or delete it. No one wants to hear your shit.
Same goes for the people posting it. It’s great that you’re spreading the word, but you could do more than help spread the word. For one, you can start by educating yourself about Uganda/Africa. Then, you can start a fundraiser to help not only the Invisible Children foundation, but countless other organizations determined to help the people all over Africa.
This is great. Must read this!
